Coming from a virtual setup at UST, I didn't expect much for my clinical internship. The mundane life of online classes directed me to have minimal to no expectations. I rendered 150 hours of internship at Argao Psych last July-August, and 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, and 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 almost summed up my internship experience. Surprisingly, despite the virtual mode, I got to appreciate and enjoy my OJT. The learnings I've gained in Argao Psych will always be with me, even if I am not yet a professional in the field.

Being the pioneering batch to have an internship in Argao Psych, I think it was an advantage to an extent. I got to see how innate and genuine their rapport within the workplace as employees and the quality service they deliver to their clients as practitioners. This became a good foundation for me as I went daily with my internship taskings because I was surrounded by people with who I could emulate their competence, dedication, and passion for the field of Psychology. Fortunately, I had the chance to apply what I've learned theoretically. It was a bonus that we had hands-on supervisors who extensively discussed what we were doing and applying. As a Psychology student, I was lucky enough to work for a mental health center that shares the same advocacies and values as me and actually embodies its goal - to give the Filipinos the mental health they deserve.

When I first set out to find a clinic where I would take my internship, Argao Psych was the first on my list. The main reason being the many good things I heard about Dr. Renz Argao from my batchmates. When I searched about Argao Psych, their mission fascinated me even more -- "Argao Psych commits itself to give every Filipino the mental health care they deserve." I wanted to be a part of that mission, even if it was for a little while, and I did.

Internship at Argao Psych involves flexible working hours and hands-on experience with clinical interviews and writing psychological reports. Supervisors are competent, friendly, and willing to teach anything you want to know about the field of Psychology. I will never forget the heart-pounding, nerve-wracking, yet fulfilling experience of interviewing a client. Of course, it would not be possible without the guidance and support of my supervisors and co-interns. Moreover, I love the feedback sessions and case conferences as they helped me develop my critical thinking, interviewing, and writing skills.

Argao Psych has become like family, and I cannot wait to be able to work with them again. 💙

My internship at Argao Psych has been filled with valuable experiences and exceptional learnings. On my first day, being the only undergraduate intern made me feel extra nervous. Even though I’m used to being independent, I had moments of self-doubt because I knew Argao Psych holds itself to high standards and consistently delivers quality service. I wasn’t sure if I could live up to their expectations as an intern. But as I progressed through my journey, the team at Argao Psych helped me realize that learning is a gradual process—a journey where every step, whether a win or a loss, contributes to growth. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to be an intern at Argao Psych. If I could go back in time, I would choose Argao Psych again as the place to develop my skills and knowledge in clinical psychology. I have no regrets about spending my 150 hours in the healthy and respectful environment that they have. Their commitment to high quality doesn’t just apply to their services; it’s also reflected in the amazing people behind them. While my experience may be different from others, the skills, knowledge, opportunities, friendships, and memories I gained at Argao Psych will always be a part of my growth, both as a person and as someone who also aspires to provide the mental health care that people deserve in the future. Throughout my internship at Argao Psych, I had the opportunity to be immersed in the experience where I witnessed such a healthy environment, fruitful learnings, and inspiring people. Knowing that I’m not yet a professional, I felt an intense feeling of being intimidated on my first day. However, they immediately wiped it off as how friendly and welcoming they are. I also had a chance to gain an invaluable learning experience through an exposure to different psychological tests, clinical interview with a client, and various learning sessions that I will surely apply throughout my journey in the field. I would also like to commend how hands-on our supervisor is. I honestly think that the guidance has truly helped me in the process especially when there are feedback sessions. It serves as my training ground on how to enhance my writing skills more and improve further on how to think critically. I could not be more grateful. Overall, it was such an exceptional experience and I wish other undergraduate interns will experience it too because it’s worth it. Thank you Argao Psych!

Considering where I live, the proximity of the site wasn’t ideal. As the internship began, I expected a holistic approach to learning but was worried that I might struggle with the tasks required by the clinic due to its reputation for high-quality services. Despite my concerns, I decided to proceed with the opportunity, and I honestly have no regrets about it. Argao Psych exceeded my expectations. In addition to allowing us to observe actual clinical interview sessions and test administrations, they provided learning sessions before the tasks and feedback sessions afterward—both of which were helpful in equipping me with the necessary skills and knowledge for my professional and personal growth. I was also able to observe their work dynamics. I witnessed their respect toward each other, their dedication to their profession, their generosity in sharing their expertise, and their commitment to serving people—all of which were truly inspiring. Dr. Argao and his mental health team made my internship memorable, even within a short span of time. All of them were humble, warm, and fun. They provided the assistance we needed. One piece of advice from my site supervisor that I will surely keep in mind is, “Huwag kayong matakot magkamali.” Overall, the hassle of commuting to and from there was worth it because of all the valuable learning I acquired. To say that I am grateful to them is an understatement; their help has meant so much to me, and I can vouch for the quality of their internship program.
