This onsite seminar introduces the theoretical foundations and therapeutic processes underlying Dr. Rosalito de Guzman’s Continuous Writing (ConWrite) Method. Participants will examine traumatization as a learning process, with particular attention to sensory and perceptual activation, memory formation, and emotional processing in trauma. The seminar will then explore de-traumatization as a healing process through the Percepts and Images in Simultaneous Occurrence (PISO) Theory and the use of ConWrite as a desensitization technique. By moving beyond procedures to examine how and why the method works, the seminar aims to prepare mental health professionals to use ConWrite with greater understanding, purpose, and clinical clarity.
Learning Outcomes:
A. Explain traumatization as a learning process and define psychological trauma.
B. Describe the sensory and perceptual processes activated during trauma.
C. Explain the role of memory processes in traumatization.
D. Analyze emotional processes involved in traumatization.
E. Explain de-traumatization using Percepts and Images in Simultaneous Occurrence (PISO) Theory.
F. Describe the ConWrite Method and its use as a trauma desensitization technique.
